Barnaby - Handcrafted Mid-Century Pixie & Glass Mushroom Art
$485.00
Meet Barnaby: The Grateful Gift-Receiver
The 10" Glitterwood Guild Grande Size — Item #2 (Signed 1-of-1 Original Art Assemblage)
Barnaby is a gentle, sweet-natured fellow who has just received a tiny, unexpected gift. Perched high upon his shimmering mushroom throne, his endearing face radiates pure gratitude and quiet, joyful humility as he cradles his precious pink prize. He is the official heart of the forest, reminding everyone who visits your mantle of the simple magic of saying "Thank you."
The Craftsmanship & Materials:
- The Figurine: An unaltered, authentic, character-rich mid-century ceramic pixie figurine, hand-selected for his incredibly warm, expressive face.
- The Throne: A vintage-inspired mercury glass mushroom, heavily the cap encrusted in genuine, German silver glass glitter. This premium glitter casts a brilliant, multi-faceted diamond shimmer that modern materials simply cannot replicate, developing a rich, historical patina over time.
- The Accents: Created specifically for Barnaby's personality are handmade and vintage metal flowers, each meticulously centered with a genuine vintage mercury glass bead, with more vintage mercury glass beads scattered about, and a tiny foil wrapped gift.
- The Foundation: Built upon a rustic, natural wood slice base beautifully covered in, vintage wallpaper.
The Build:
Affixing a completely rigid, unbendable mid-century ceramic figurine onto a rounded glass mushroom cap required a special technique that is nearly invisible. Barnaby and the embellishments have been painstakingly joined to the mushroom cap using a hidden contact technique.
